Ocean Voices Monet Shortland visits Ocean Lovers Festival in Sydney

The Ocean Lovers Festival held at the Bondi Pavilion, Sydney, was a spectacular event. There were market stalls with many passionate people conversing about hundreds of different ocean related topics. From talking about finding microplastics in the sand to encouraging people to sign petitions to save Sub-Antarctic marine life, the festival had it all.  Attending this event as part of my recent trip to Sydney, I was amazed to see all the inspiring people ready to have a conversation about the one thing we all were ardent about, the ocean.

The markets had a variety of different stalls, people designing eco-friendly bracelets, fantastic ocean artwork, the Australian Marine Conservation Society, sustainable skincare, delicious drinks and snacks, as well as the famous Sea Shepherd, informational and enticing as ever.

I talked to so many interesting people during my visit to the festival and arrived back to the Northern Rivers inspired and ready to find my own ways to take action protecting our ocean as part of the Ocean Voices program.
