Ocean Voices Launches Website And Youth Survey During Mullumbimby High School Visit

Mullumbimby High School is set to host a milestone event on Monday, March 18th, as Ocean Voices unveils its eagerly awaited website and launches the Ocean Voices Youth Survey. The assembly will feature Monet Shortland, a passionate 16-year-old environmental activist from Mullumbimby high school and the Youth Engagement Coordinator for Ocean Voices. She will share her personal story and insights on ocean conservation and the significance of programs like Ocean Voices in empowering young voices for a Bright Blue Future.

Supported by funding from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation’s Backing the Future program, which provides grants to individuals with an early-stage idea to support rural and regional young people. Ocean Voices is dedicated to providing youth from in and around the Northern Rivers with opportunities to engage in projects they are passionate about and have their voices heard on the environmental issues that affect their future.

The website and logo design, produced by local designer Ethan Wilmen from Core Designs, showcases Ocean Voices' commitment to collaboration with young talent. Simone Roseler, founder of Ocean Voices, expressed her delight with Ethan's work, praising his dedication to the project. Their collaboration began during Ethan's time at Byron college SAE, highlighting the program's emphasis on nurturing local talent and fostering meaningful partnerships within the community.

"We are thrilled to launch the Ocean Voices website along with our first comprehensive Youth Survey at Mullumbimby High School," said Simone Roseler. "This marks an exciting milestone in our journey to empower youth in environmental projects and provide them with the tools and platforms to make a positive impact on our planet's future."

The Ocean Voices website will serve as a hub for resources, initiatives, and opportunities for youth engagement around ocean health. The Ocean Voices Youth Survey aims to gather insights and perspectives from young people on environmental issues and aspirations for a sustainable future. It will be rolled out to a selection of high schools in the region over the next month.
