Ocean Voices Celebrates World Ocean Day: Educating, Engaging, Inspiring, and Activating Youth to Protect Our Oceans - Wednesday June 5th

Prepare to dive into a world of ocean conservation and innovation at the upcoming Ocean Voices World Ocean Day Event, where we will be putting the focus squarely on empowering young minds to safeguard our planet's most vital ecosystem. Run in partnership with Byron Youth Service and held at their wonderful venue, this event promises a day filled with education, engagement, inspiration, and action, all aimed at nurturing a generation of ocean stewards.

With a mission to foster innovation, education, and action, the Ocean Voices World Ocean Day Event is a beacon for young individuals passionate about protecting our oceans. Through interactive workshops, inspiring presentations, and informative panel discussions, students from Ballina, Byron, Mullum, Shearwater, Small School and Hillcrest high schools will gain the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to make a positive impact on the health of our oceans.

"At Ocean Voices we believe in the power of young people to drive meaningful change," said Simone Roseler, founder of Ocean Voices. "This event is a platform for youth to learn, connect, and take action in support of our oceans. Together, we can create a brighter blue future."

The event will be led by 16-year-old Mullum High student, and Ocean Voices Young Ocean Leader, Monet Shortland and features a diverse line up of speakers. Donating their time are Mike Smith CEO - Zero Co, Michael Rossignuolo, Director of Design at Katapult Design, Jahvis Loveday local indigenous filmmaker, Sarah Child - Byron Shire Council, Mahi Paquette - Seabin Foundation, Liz Hawkins - Byron Hope Spot, Zoe White - OzFish and Lucy Jepson from Positive Change for Marine Life. Speakers will share their vast insights and experiences on innovation, sustainable design, storytelling, recycling and pressing ocean conservation issues. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our oceans and the innovative solutions being developed to address them.

In addition to educational sessions, the Ocean Voices World Ocean Day event will offer opportunities for attendees to engage with like-minded peers, organisations, and businesses committed to ocean health, conservation and innovation. Students will be inspired to take action in their own schools, homes and communities.

"I am excited to be part of an event that is bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, inspiring them to collaborate on solutions for a healthier ocean," said Mike Rossignuolo - Katapult Design, a featured presenter at the event. "By harnessing the creativity and passion of youth, we can drive real progress towards achieving our ocean conservation goals."
